Stamps Collection

Stamps are used in all countries of the world when the documents are sending from one part of the country to another part of the country. The stamps are used on the documents when the documents are pasted on the top of it. On the stamps there are photographs of celebrated figures of every countries of the world. Apart from the normal usage of stamps, stamp collection is also a hobby in every household of US, UK and countries of the Western World and Asian countries including India. There are different types of stamps. These are stamp types, formats, purpose and condition. In the case of stamp types we find that it is definitive, commemorative and special. The purpose of having stamps is that it should be regularly used; the documents should reach to the proper destination, different postages and airmails of overseas countries.

In the case of stamp types, the terms “definitive” and “commemorative” are used on regular occasions to define specific types of stamps and for quite a number of years these term are very clear to all of us. Now let’s find out in details what actually is meant by the term “definitive” and “commemorative”. The term ‘definitive’ means that in which the photographs of Great persons like Benjamin Franklin and George Washington of US are published. In the beginning all the photographs of the celebrity figures are published, in the later stage the focusing got shifted to the Commonwealth countries and the celebrity deceased figures of US, UK and countries of the world.

As per Commemorative is concerned it dates back to the year 1800 and above that. The first specific stamp issued in connection with it dates back to the year 1893, the year of Columbian Exposition Issues to commemorate the discovery of the New World. After the year 1893, there were many stamps issued for the purpose of reminiscing various local events, reputed companies and any noble cause undertaken by the NGO’s and other social organizations of US. In the beginning commemoratives used to be printed in smaller quantities, now we find that around 100 to 200 million copies of such are printed for public. In this part also the 100th and 200th birth anniversaries of the Great figures of US are depicted.
